CORRECTION: In our December 2016 newsletter, we stated that based on the current make-up of the Board, that village stock class requirements are needed. This is incorrect. At the 2017 Annual Shareholder meeting, the Board will determine the residency requirements. As of now, 4 members of our 9-member Board of Directors reside in rural Alaska and all classes of stock are represented. Board of Director Questionnaires are still due by Friday, February 24, 2017 by 5 pm and the below Shareholder Resolution 16-01 contains the amended articles of incorporation as the following:

Number, Tenure and Qualifications. (a) The Board of Directors shall be comprised of nine (9) directors who shall be shareholders, eligible to vote, over the age of eighteen (18), who are an original shareholder or a lineal descendant of an original shareholder. The Board of Directors shall be comprised of directors who meet the following requirements:

One (1) director shall be the owner of record of Class A Settlement Common Stock of the Corporation;

One (1) director shall be the owner of record of Class B Settlement Common Stock of the Corporation;

One (1) director shall be the owner of record of Class C Settlement Common Stock of the Corporation;

One (1) director shall be the owner of record of Class D Settlement Common Stock of the Corporation;

Five (5) directors shall be elected from all shareholders at-large and for the election of which there are no special Class of stock or physical residency requirements.

Three (3) of the directors shall reside in rural Alaska, as defined by the Board of Directors.

The Gana-A'Yoo, Limited Board of Directors is seeking to fill three (3) open seats on the board. Current directors’ terms expire in June 2017. All shareholders are highly encouraged to consider running for the open seats on the board. Please submit a Director's Questionnaire by Friday, February 24, 2017 by 5pm

Nominations for the Gana-A'Yoo Student of the Year are due Tuesday, February 28, 2017 by 5pm. The candidate will be selected based on his or her leadership qualities, cultural/community involvement and educational goals. Nominees must be either a Gana-A’Yoo shareholder or a descendant of an original shareholder.

Nominations for the Gana-A'Yoo Shareholder of the Year are due Tuesday, February 28, 2017 by 5pm. The nominee must be a Gana-A’Yoo shareholder who is involved in community service and whose involvement has directly affected Alaska Natives.

The Gana-A’Yoo, Limited Land Use Policy was modified and plans to issue a limited number of land use permits to non-shareholder residents of Galena, Koyukuk, Nulato, and Kaltag. Anyone interested please email lands@ganaayoo.com or contact Crystal at 1888-656-1606 ext 570.
